Saudi Arabia declares official holiday after defeating Argentina – Sports World

Saudi Arabia announced a national holiday on Wednesday, November 23 after winning 2:1 against Argentina in the Qatar World Cup.

A tweet The official press agency of Saudi Arabia said:[It will] May it be a holiday for all workers in all sectors of the state and private sector, and all male and female students at all levels of education.”

The game opened with Lionel Messi scoring a penalty in the first ten minutes for Argentina, but Saudi Arabia managed to complete an incredible comeback in the second half with two goals from Saleh Alsherhri (48′) and Salem Aldawsari (53′).

Ghassan Alwan, the marketing director of the Ministry of Housing of Saudi Arabia, said: “We are very satisfied with the result. It was an exceptional match from our falcons, our faith in our players was right. We wrote history tonight.”

After the defeat, Messi said: “There are no excuses, we will be more united than ever. This is a strong team and we have shown it in the past.

“Now we have to win, it’s up to us. I ask the fans to trust us. This group will not let them down.”

Saudi Arabia is not the first country to declare a national holiday after defeating Argentina, during the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Cameroon beat Argentina 1-0 and declared a national holiday the following day.

I don’t know about you, but I think England should follow in the footsteps of Cameroon and Saudi Arabia.
