MANILA, Philippines – NLEX kept its chance to advance to the quarterfinals after stunning Barangay Ginebra with a 120-117 overtime victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Friday.

Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser knocked down a three with 1:37 left in overtime to give his team a 119-117 lead before the Road Warriors forced the Gin Kings to miss their final five attempts to pull out the upset victory.

Import Earl Clark scored 37 points and Don Trollano had 20 of his 26 points in the third as NLEX improved to 4-7 and ended Ginebra’s five-game winning streak.

That kept the Road Warriors in the hunt for a spot in the quarters to defeat the Meralco Bolts on November 30.

“There’s not much to it,” coach Frankie Lim said.

Ginebra fell to 7-3 for fourth place, needing to beat NorthPort on Sunday and Converge on Nov. 30, and Magnolia (8-2) hopes to drop one of its last two appearances to earn a quarterfinal berth.

The Gin Kings’ loss secured the Bay Area Dragons, who went 10-2, first place going into the quarterfinals.
Justin Brownlee finished with 39 points but missed his final four shots, including a game-tying three from the horn.
