Elon Musk recently took to Twitter to announce that Twitter will be relaunching Twitter Blue and their verified program next Friday, December 2nd. Musk claims there will be three types of ticks or verification badges on the front – one gold, one gray. and a blue one.

Musk responded by apologizing to a user on Twitter for the delay in restarting the service, and said the company was “temporarily” launching its verification service on December 2. Twitter will use different colored check marks to distinguish between the three account types, the new owner of the platform.

According to Musk’s tweet, the gold badge will be for companies and other organizations, while the gray check will be reserved for government agencies. Existing blue ticks will be reserved for individuals, whether they are celebrities or not.

Explaining how blue ticks will work for individuals, Musk tweeted that while all verified individuals will have the same blue check, it’s difficult to define exactly what is “significant” due to its subjective scope. Individuals may use secondary logos or labels to show that they are associated with a significant organization. Musk also announced that Twitter will provide more details about the new verified badge in the coming weeks.

Musk also announced that going forward, all verified accounts will be manually authenticated by a team at Twitter before the check is assigned and the check appears on their platform.

Mask is adamant about charging users a fixed monthly fee for certain benefits. Besides the verified badge, users get a ton more Benefits of their Twitter Blue subscription. Going forward, there is a very good possibility that even DMs or direct messaging could become part of Twitter Blue or a different level of service offered on the platform. Plans to add DM to the platform are massive changes and improvements to Mask’s plans.

Musk had to halt the $8-month Twitter Blue subscription service, as fake accounts proliferated and Twitter demanded The blue check subscription service will be re-launched at a later date.

Musk then told his staff at an all-hands meeting that Twitter wouldn’t restart the service until they were sure they could combat impersonation and fake accounts getting Twitter blue ticks.
