A military recruiter in Texas shot and killed his wife as Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigators were interviewing her regarding allegations of abuse she recently filed against her husband, police said.
The violence unfolded Thursday inside a home in the Balmoral community of Atascocita around 1:30 p.m., according to the Houston Chronicle. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the female victim was talking to two NCIS agents when the suspect walked in and opened fire.
One of the NCIS agents was injured in the shooting and remained hospitalized in fair condition Thursday night. Harris said the second officer escaped the incident unharmed.
The woman, who was holding her son when the shooting unfolded, was also beaten and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Gonzalez told KHOU that first responders discovered the uninjured boy still in his mother’s arms when they arrived at the residence.
The suspect fled the scene of the shooting in a dark-colored sedan, but authorities were able to locate him on Mist Lane around 5:00 p.m. That’s when he got out of the vehicle, gun in hand, and again opened fire on officers. of the order.
