TAMPA, Fla. (CW44 News at 10) – U.S. Special Operations Command will host a capabilities demonstration at the Tampa Convention Center from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday May 18.
The simulation is part of the Special Operations Force Industry Conference that includes more than 175 SOCOMs and international service members from 11 nations. The rally will be used to “rescue” a city official from “hostile” forces.

Simulated explosions, simulated gunfire, and low-flying aircraft, helicopters, ships, ATVs, divers, and ground forces will be used during the demonstration.
The City of Tampa will present a public proclamation prior to the event on Wednesday.

Traffic around the Tampa Convention Center will be shut down both days from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm Spectators can watch the demonstration from the streets around the Tampa Convention Center.
South Franklin Street will be blocked at the Water Street intersection from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on May 17 and May 18. The blockade extends from South Harbor Island Boulevard to the Westin hotel parking lot. Hotel or local restaurant guests can exit the parking lot heading south on South Harbor Island Boulevard.
The four water entrances to the Seddon Canal will also be blocked off from noon to 2:30 p.m. both days, allowing only demo participants, including speedboats and divers.
