MBTA: Part of Green Line service replaced with buses after overhead wire-related incident – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) – Buses will replace Green Line service between Government Center and Kenmore after the overhead cable near the line’s Park Street station began sparking, triggering smoke and an emergency response in the process.

MBTA officials said the overhead cable on the westbound Green Line track east of Park Station fell around 3 p.m. Sunday, creating smoke. No injuries or fires were reported, according to a spokesman.

The temporary buses will be in action while the MBTA Department of Energy makes repairs. The station will also remain open for Red Line customers, according to the MBTA.
