Marketplace names Tam executive editor

General manager and vice president of “Marketplace”. Neal Scarbrough sent the following:

Marketplace and Friends:

I am happy to bring some really good news to this space. Marketplace has a new Executive Editor. Donna Tam, In demand in a variety of leadership roles over the past six years, taking our social media and web platforms to new heights, he will start this month as head of our newsroom.

Donna will report to me and oversee Marketplace’s reporters, editors and show staff. He will also manage new content initiatives in the newsroom. Donna will begin this transition on November 28th.

I am so excited for Donna and Marketplace. When he and I first discussed this role this summer, his knowledge and effectiveness in many areas positioned him as a top authority in the Marketplace. As other candidates emerged and faded, it became clear to me that our best approach to change was someone who knew where to start.

As many of you have seen, Donna’s list of contributions to Marketplace is long and strong. And the diversity of her duties makes for a dynamic newsroom leader. He joined us as Digital Editor before leading this team. He served as project manager for the enterprise before helping produce podcasts and developing the newsletter team. He was hired to be Sitara Nieves‘ MP on Demand before leading the team last year. She excels in our content portfolio, including marketing and fundraising, and is continually striving to make Marketplace a better place to work.

Donna and I have a shared vision for integrating our content teams and streams, and she is eager to partner with Francesca Levy in this critical endeavor. Donna Marketplace focuses on reaching new audiences with her stories. He demonstrated all the leadership, development (staff and content) and collaboration we strive to drive our enterprise forward.

Over the past year, I’ve seen what we all know: Donna Tam does it. Please join me in supporting his plans to elevate our journalism through better communication, innovation, teamwork and execution.

Congratulations, Donna!
