Manchester United owners are open to selling the club | XtraTime

Xtra Time Web Desk: Manchester United owners Glazer family open to selling Premier League club In a statement, the Old Trafford-based club said they had “commenced a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club”.

Later, “As part of this process, the board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment in the club, sale or other transactions related to the company.”

United fans clamored for a change of ownership and the Glazers were their target as the team went five years without a trophy. The last silverware they won was the Europa League and League Cup in 2017.

In August of this year, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe expressed his interest in buying United.

The latest development suggests that the club’s management has finally decided to sell the property. American investment bank Raine Group has been engaged to handle any sale or new investment. Raine managed the sale of another Premier League club, Chelsea, to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, successfully securing £2.5 billion ($3 billion) plus a further £1.75 billion ($2 billion) commitment.

The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League table at the halfway stage and will need a huge turnaround to get anywhere close to winning the title.
