A man will appear in court today accused of pouring gasoline on a baby and glass on a woman, south of Sydney.
Police were called to a home in the Wollongong suburb of Mount Saint Thomas around 8pm yesterday following reports of domestic assault.
A 48-year-old woman was at home with a one-year-old girl when she was allegedly verbally assaulted by a 41-year-old man known to her.
Police say the woman used a stroller to barricade herself in a room with the girl before the man forced his way in and poured gasoline on the girl.
It is alleged that the woman was then hit on the back of the head with a glass while trying to wash the boy’s face.
The boy was treated by paramedics but did not require hospitalization.
The man was arrested at the home a short time later and charged with assault, destruction of property, and stalking and intimidation with intent to cause fear or physical harm.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court today.
