Liberals didn’t give Australians ‘something to believe in’

Former Liberal Party of Victoria chairman Michael Kroger says maintaining the “status quo” won’t win votes, following the Liberal Party’s electoral defeat on Saturday night.

“People want to believe that the best days of their country are yet to come – to inspire people, you have to give them something they can believe in, something they can hold on to,” he told Sky News Australia.

“We didn’t do that. Basically what we did was say ‘the ship is going to keep going at the same rate’. That’s not inspiring.”
