The omicron wave arrived in Oregon, causing a further surge in COVID-19 cases that quickly reached a record size, surpassing both the winter peak in late 2020 and early 2021 and the delta wave peak in late August and early September.

Oregon’s numbers so far:

  • 513 391 confirmed and suspected cases
  • 5,883 death
  • 3,088,356 people received at least one dose of vaccine
  • 2,799,040 people have completed a series of vaccines
  • 1,302,241 people received booster doses

For reference, Oregon’s population is 4,241,500, according to the 2020 US Census.

Where to get vaccinated

All Oregonians age 5 and older are eligible to be vaccinated, and anyone age 12 and older is eligible for a booster dose, although the date of eligibility depends on whether they initially received the vaccine. Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson. The boosters do not need to be the same brand as the original doses.

Vaccines are available to everyone, with or without insurance, and do not require ID or proof of citizenship. More information and a link to the Oregon Health Authority’s vaccine and testing location map is available at getvaccinated.oregon.gov.

Several counties in Oregon currently operate mass vaccination sites, which offer all three types of vaccines, including pediatric doses, with no appointment required. Most sites also offer tests:
