Jamie Lynn calling Britney “erratic,” “paranoid” and “spiraling” reminded fans how Justin Timberlake notoriously demonized the pop star in high-profile interviews throughout their breakup.
If you’ve been on the internet in the past 24 hours, you’ve probably seen Jamie Lynn Spears Hello america interview broke on social media.
But for those who somehow missed it, Jamie Lynn found herself all the rage on Twitter last night, following the high profile discussion about her sister, Britney Spears.
Jamie Lynn’s decision to appear on GMA was something that drew criticism from the moment it was announced, given that Britney publicly denounced her in court proceedings last June and suggested that she had done nothing to help. while she was living under the restrictive conditions of her guardianship.
Under the legal arrangement, which had been in effect since 2008, Britney’s dad and lawyers controlled his life and finances. The guardianship was ended in November of last year after a long legal battle.

Not only has Britney accused her sister of being an accomplice in the guardianship – something Jamie Lynn has repeatedly denied – but she also specifically said she wanted her whole family jailed for her lack of support.
But despite Britney’s past comments and the continued criticism she faces about her alleged complicity, Jamie Lynn has sat down with GMA Wednesday to discuss guardianship and their controversial family dynamics for the first time.
“I love my sister,” she noted. “I never loved and supported her, and did what’s right for her. And she knows it. So I don’t know why we are in this position at the moment.
“When [the conservatorship] was set up I was 17 years old. I was about to have a baby, so I didn’t understand what was going on, ”she said. “I wasn’t focused on that either. I was focused on the fact that I was 17 about to have a baby. I understand it as little then as I do today.
Jamie Lynn went on to say that she had in fact “put in place means” to help Britney with the legal arrangement, saying she “had not taken any action” to be part of it.
“There was a time when my sister asked me – with her confidence and her will – if I would be the person who was sure her boys were getting what they needed,” she said.
“Once I realized that … she is in a wardship, I felt like I just didn’t want to be a part of [it] until maybe she’s out of wardship, ”she said.
“There was no me to oversee the funds or anything like that, and if it was, it was a misunderstanding,” she said. “Either way, I took no steps to be part of it.”
Jamie Lynn said, “I’ve always been my sister’s biggest supporter, so when she needed help I put some means in place to help.”
“I did everything I could to make sure she had the contacts she needed to eventually go ahead and end this trusteeship, and just end it all for our family,” a- she declared. “If it’s going to cause so much discord, why continue?” “
She added, “If she wanted to talk to other people… I organized that. I even spoke to his legal team… the previous legal team, and it didn’t end well in my favor. “
Jamie Lynn’s interview continued to erupt on social media in the hours following her release, with many criticizing the actor for it. “unreasonable” Remarks.
Fans first interviewed the Sweet magnolia the star’s claims about her lack of knowledge about the 13-year-old guardianship.
Jamie Lynn said she couldn’t help Britney in 07 because she was 17, pregnant and didn’t have the capacity to care for Britney. But then he said ‘J ‘know as little about it now as it did then. ”a Tweeter read.
“Jamie Lynn Spears on GMA saying she had no idea what a guardianship was at 17 when Britney was placed there. She is now 30 and says she still doesn’t know what it is. est. Girl all this time, you never google once what happened to your sister ???? another user wrote.
In response, one person noted that Jamie Lynn’s claim contradicted his other remarks about allegedly providing Britney with resources to help her with the legal arrangement.
“And that contradicts her by saying that she gave Britney the resources to get by. How did she help her when she didn’t know what it was. I literally can’t. The entire interview contradicted itself ”, the Tweeter noted.
Additionally, fans denounced another Jamie Lynn contradiction. After describing Britney’s mental state as “erratic”, “paranoid” and “spiraling” in her next memoir, the actor said she “can’t really talk about someone’s state of mind. ‘one else’ when asked about it in the interview.
“Jamie Lynn is a walking contradiction”, a person tweeted alongside direct comparisons of his statements.
People have also questioned Jamie Lynn’s apparent ignorance of why she and Britney are not on good terms. Given that the “Gimme More” singer has repeatedly convicted her over the past year, including in court hearings and often on Instagram, many have called Jamie Lynn’s ignorance an attempt to “gas lighting” her.
“I’m sorry but Jamie Lynn on GMA acting like she doesn’t know why her sister isn’t fucking with her is extremely light on me. Dry the tears mom ”, we read Tweeter, which received over 10,000 likes.
“I actually had tears in my eyes watching this. I’m so so sorry for Britney that after everything they’ve done, her family continues … [sponging] out of her ”, another tweet noted.
Amid the onslaught of criticism of Jamie Lynn – and ABC Network for airing the interview – many users began to draw comparisons between the Zoey 101 star and another person Britney has a notorious past with: Justin Timberlake.
As you probably know, Britney and Justin dated in the early 2000s. However, their three-year relationship ended in a very public breakup in 2002.
Britney was demonized by the media for years after Justin apparently continued the narrative that she was the cause of their separation – perhaps, some believe, to bolster her own career ahead of the release of her 2002 album, Justified.
Not only did the former NSYNC member imply that Britney cheated on him with sharp lyrics on his hit “Cry Me a River,” but he also infamously has an unmistakable lookalike of his ex in the clip.
Additionally, Justin notoriously made disrespectful comments about Britney in a series of interviews during their breakup. For example, he made rude remarks about their sex life talking with Hot 97, saying, “I did. I’m dirty,” when asked if he had had “oral sex” with her.
Justin’s treatment of Britney is something that was revealed last year, following FX and Hulu’s release. Coaching Britney Spears – a poignant documentary which recalls his desire to make his ex the scapegoat throughout their breakup.
And in light of Jamie Lynn’s recent high-profile comments about Britney, many fans were quick to rethink Justin’s treatment of the pop star.
Whereas Jamie Lynn and Justin painted Britney in a demonize and “erratic” light, fans have since accused both sides of deliberately leading a sharp narrative in the media – arguably for their own benefit.
“[Jamie Lynn] always takes advantage of her sister playing on their relationship problems in a public forum to sell her book. Honestly, what’s the difference between what she does and what Justin Timberlake did? one person said in a tweet that has received over 400 likes.
“This. This. This,” a person responded in agreement.
However, many went on to say that Jamie Lynn’s behavior seems more damaging than Justin’s, not least because she is Britney’s sister, but given that she has had years to reflect on her silence throughout. guardianship – and yet still does not seem to have taken responsibility. .
Perhaps in light of the harsh backlash he faced following the review of his actions, Justin eventually issued a formal apology to Britney, admitting he had “failed” her in a written statement released on last year.
“I have seen the posts, tags, comments and concerns and want to respond,” he wrote on Instagram in February 2021. “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions have contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of my turn, or I didn’t speak for what was right.
“I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson individually, because I care about these women and I respect them and I know I have failed,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Britney has yet to address Jamie Lynn’s latest post. GMA interview. But, if her past Instagram posts have anything to do with it, we can expect her to share her thoughts on her sister’s remarks on the platform soon.
