Report: Giants want to interview Joe Hortiz for G.M. job

The Giants fired coach Joe Judge on Tuesday night. They continue their search for a CEO, adding a ninth external candidate to the list.

The Giants have asked the Ravens for permission to speak to director of player personnel, Joe Hortiz, ESPN’s Pat Leonard reports.

Eric DeCosta promoted Hortiz to director of player personnel in 2019 when DeCosta took over as general manager of Baltimore. Hortiz was previously Director of University Scouting.

Hortiz joined the organization in 1998 as a Boy Scout and rose through the ranks in the department.

The Giants have had an opening since Monday when Dave Gettleman announced his retirement.

They asked for talks with Titans vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden and director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort, Bills deputy general manager Joe Schoen, executive director of player personnel Ryan Poles, vice-president Cardinals personnel president Adrian Wilson and vice president of player personnel. Quentin Harris and 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters and professional personnel manager Ran Carthon. The Giants are also expected to speak to their assistant general manager Kevin Abrams.
