Third-year quarterback Paul Tyson was among five Alabama players to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Tight end Jahleel Billingsley, outside linebacker Drew Sanders, outside linebacker King Mwikuta and offensive lineman Tommy Brown also entered the gate, according to multiple reports.
Tyson announced his decision in a Twitter post.
Bear Bryant’s great-grandson Tyson was Alabama’s backup quarterback this season behind Bryce Young, who will return for his junior season in 2021. The Tide has also added quarterback five. Ty Simpson stars at his depth chart.
Billingsley, a junior, finished the season with 17 catches for 256 yards and three touchdowns after being an All-SEC preseason second-team selection.
Sanders, a sophomore who was a five-star rookie in 2020, initially started this season after Christopher Allen was injured. But Sanders himself was injured mid-season, opening the door for five-star freshman rusher Dallas Turner to emerge and ultimately retain the starting position.
Brown was a reserve offensive lineman, while Mwikuta was a reserve linebacker who entered the portal last offseason but stayed with Alabama.
