Florida Sheriff’s Office Jokes About Unemployed May 4 Stormtrooper Invasion

The Florida Sheriff’s Office called for new pilots after they joked that they had been swamped by unemployed galactic stormtroopers following the destruction of the Death Star, in footage released on May 4, also known as Star Day. In the video, Bryan Smith, chief pilot for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, interviews unemployed Star Wars characters and says they have a good work ethic but seem too attached to their suits. One is seen telling Smith that he always wanted to be a TIE fighter pilot in the Imperial Navy before the Death Star was destroyed and that he came to him to fulfill his dream. Alongside the video, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office wrote that “there’s always hope…we get a Dundie for this,” referring to the awards given out on the television show The Office.
