FEELM has adopted an energy management system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

The system collects real-time data on electricity usage during production, allowing factories to make adjustments to improve efficiency. It supports real-time electricity usage monitoring, calculation and processing, regulation is a benchmark for calculating carbon emissions. It is presented on a data platform to measure these emissions and check for anomalies.

This has led to a significant reduction in electricity usage in non-manufacturing sectors in the fully automated FEELM factory. In the first 5 months of 2022, this reduction amounted to 720 thousand kilowatt hours or 188.4 tons of carbon emissions. Efficiency in the manufacturing sector has also improved, with average output per kWh rising from RMB 177 in 2020 to RMB 245 in 2022.

FEELM also joined Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. CDP is a repository for environmental reporting by organizations and corporations worldwide. As the first technology brand to do so in the Chinese e-cigarette industry, FEELM strives to integrate R&D, production and supply to achieve this goal.

The e-cigarette manufacturing industry continues to waste energy due to factors such as inconsistent data collection methods, variations in manufacturing parameters, delays in data acquisition, and inconsistent equipment specifications/monitoring systems. For the e-cigarette industry, improving the efficiency of low resource use is key to realizing its potential.

To this end, FEELM launched the industry’s first automated production line in 2019. The following year, it began moving toward a fully automated production line. Their energy monitoring management system allows them to create visual graphs after being uploaded to the cloud, and the factory has optimized lighting, ventilation, heating and water pump operations. Based on this, managers can optimize the process to avoid waste.

As a result, carbon emissions on the production line are significantly reduced and the carbon footprint is reduced before the product is released. These changes in the first half of the current year, approximately 1,249.5 thousand kilowatt-hours of electricity were saved, and carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere was reduced by 326.9 tons.
