Country music star Dolly Parton and American rapper Doja Cat will star in a Taco Bell musical about the chain’s “Mexican Pizza.”
“Mexican Pizza: The Musical” will be “based on the true story of the internet losing its mind” after Taco Bell removed the item from the menu, according to a photo of the script posted on Parton’s Instagram. Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza has generated some attention on social media.
“I’m doing #MexicanPizzaTheMusical with @TacoBell,” Parton said. Parton highlighted his appreciation for Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza in a January interview with Insider. “They used to do some … Mexican pizza, which is good too. I love that,” he said.
Taco Bell confirmed Musical Monday in a tweet.
The first announcement that Mexican pizza would be back was during Coachella Weekend 1 on April 17 during Doja Cat’s performance. She said, “By the way, I brought the Mexican pizza!”
“Mexican Pizza: The Musical” will premiere exclusively on TikTok at 8 p.m. ET on May 26.
The Mexican pizza was removed from the menu in November 2020. It will return to the Taco Bell menu on May 19, according to an April press release.
It consists of a flour tortilla with refried beans, seasoned ground beef, and Mexican sauce, topped with another tortilla, Mexican sauce, cheese, and diced tomatoes.
