On October 17, 2018, Canada became the largest country in the world to legalize recreational cannabis use.

The move came after years of protests and calls for legalization, particularly in Vancouver, dubbed the “ground zero of global marijuana activism,” with an annual focus on a 420 event.

It was big business then, and it’s bigger business now, with legal pot shops all over town, delivery service, online service, and more paraphanalia options than you can imagine.

On Wednesday, thousands of people gathered again outside the Vancouver Art Gallery for the traditional April 20 gathering.

But now that marijuana is legal in Canada, is the 420 event old fashioned?
