Cavallini scores late, Vancouver beats Dallas 2-1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Lucas Cavallini made a last-minute penalty kick to lead the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas on Wednesday night.

Cavallini’s third goal of the season came after a brawl in front of the net with Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer leaving a wide cross at the feet of a Whitecaps attacker. The ball found its way to Ranko Veselinovic, who had gone forward in attack, and was brought down from a penalty in the 92nd minute.

Vancouver has won three of its last four games. Dallas had snapped its nine-game unbeaten streak.

Paul Arriola opened the scoring for Dallas with his fourth goal of the season in the first half.

Brian White tied the game for Vancouver in the 71st minute.
