Burraneer home sells for $20 million, breaks record for Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s Cook electorate

Despite strong offers of more than $50 million, Shelley took the property off the market in February after falling in love with the house again during last year’s closing.

The Burraneer sale is one of 17 home sales for $20 million or more this year, putting the trophy market on track for one of its best years.

Last weekend, Prime Minister Scott Morrison released a key policy of this weekend’s federal election, announcing a controversial policy that would allow first-time homebuyers to dip into their retirement up to $50,000 to buy a property.

Leading economists have condemned the policy as it would drive price increases in that market and leave people poorer in retirement.
