Brickbat: No vacancy

San Francisco voters approved a measure that would tax the owners of some vacant apartments. Beginning Jan. 1, 2024, homeowners who own three or more units that are vacant for 182 days in a given tax year will be taxed between $2,500 and $5,000 per unit. If the units remain vacant, this will increase to $20,000 over time. Single-family homes and duplexes will be exempt from the tax.
