Barnette appears to falsely claim she voted for Trump in the 2016 primary

Pennsylvania US Senate candidate Kathy Barnette appears to have been caught making a false claim about voting for Donald Trump during the 2016 primary.

In an interview on The Chris Stigall Show, Barnette was asked about his first vote in the state of Pennsylvania, to which he replied that he voted for Trump in the 2016 primary.

“What really comes to mind is 2016 for President Trump’s primary as well as President Trump’s general election,” he said on the show.

While Barnette may be telling the truth about her vote in the primary, her comments certainly contradict what she herself wrote in her earlier memoir, as Republican strategist Matt Wolking, who works with Pennsylvania Senate candidate David McCormick.

“Praise God for second chances,” he wrote in his book. “Even though I didn’t vote for Trump in the primary, when the general election came around he was firmly on the front carriage of the Trump train.

It remains unknown if Barnette was intentionally misleading during the interview or if he was simply misspeaking, but falsely claiming he voted for Trump in the 2016 primary as a MAGA badge of pride makes for a pretty strange hill to die considering. some of the most important of the president. ardent supporters initially opposed him (some quite viciously) in the primaries. Some, like Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance, vehemently opposed his candidacy and still found favor with the president after changing course. Aside from her book passage, Barnette’s previous tweets show that she was staunchly opposed to President Trump during the primaries, routinely criticizing his moral character and behavior.

Regardless of her previous positions on Trump, Barnette has been vocal in her support of the former president throughout the campaign.

Barnette’s dubious comments come after questions were raised about his military service and after Trump publicly said he would have a hard time winning the general election against Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.

“Kathy Barnette can never win the general election against the radical left Democrats,” Trump said, noting that she has “a lot of things in her past that haven’t been properly explained or examined, but if she can do that, she’ll have a wonderful future in the future.” Republican Party, and I will support her all the time.”
