Authorities capture a roaming bear in a Philadelphia suburb after a day-long search

Pennsylvania authorities worked into the early hours of Wednesday, May 4, to capture a black bear that was roaming the Philadelphia area, including a park and a shopping mall, on Tuesday, local media said. Images posted to Facebook by the Clifton Heights County Fire Company early Wednesday morning show the sedated bear hanging from a tree outside a home in Clifton Heights, five miles west of downtown Philadelphia, before slipping and be placed on a tarp by the authorities. The Clifton Heights County Police Department said the bear was captured at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. “Thank you to the ranger and CHF Co for your help in the humane treatment of this animal,” they said. They said the bear would be relocated out of the area. Credit: Clifton Heights Fire Company via Storyful
