$6M Hauppauge renovation gets BIA help

Broadway National Group has received preliminary approval for economic incentives from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency to renovate its Hauppauge headquarters.

Includes a $6 million project at 100 Davids Drive Renovating the first floor of the 65,500-square-foot building to create office space to support the company’s growing technology business, BIA said in a statement.

The renovations also include a training area for employees, shared workspaces, and a kitchen and lunch area. The project also includes 75,550 square feet of new surface parking.

Broadway National is a family owned and operated property management, construction and technology company. Founded in CEO William Paparella’s garage in 1989, the business has grown from a neon light shop to a mobile and cloud-based multi-site property management service serving Fortune 500 clients.

This is the company’s second bite at the apple for Suffolk IDA benefits. In 2017, Broadway National received incentives from the IDA for a more than $10.8 million project to purchase and renovate the property at 100 Davids Drive. At the time, the company had 101 employees, and with the help of IDA, it was planned to create 50 new jobs, and since then the company has grown to 236 employees. Upon completion of the new project, Broadway National has promised to increase its workforce again by adding 70 more full-time jobs with an average annual salary of $64,000.

“The IDA is pleased to support Broadway National,” said Suffolk IDA Executive Director Tony Catapano. “As their company name suggests, Broadway National has clients and facilities across the country and can serve their clients from anywhere, but they continue to call Suffolk County home. This assistance will allow the growing business, which has been located in the county for more than three decades, to remain in Hauppauge in both size and workforce and continue to expand.

In addition to the promised job creation, Broadway National spent more than $2.7 million with Long Island-based vendors last year, an amount expected to increase with the completion of its latest project.

“Broadway National is the type of company we’re really excited about,” said Suffolk IDA Deputy Executive Director Kelly Murphy. “They are a local business that continues to expand while staying true to their roots in Suffolk. They have broken employment commitments in the past, so we are excited to see what this next wave of investment in their facilities will bring to them and our region.”
