Latest forecast update from Meteorologist Rob Lindenmuth:
ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Another warm and slightly humid afternoon today with temperatures once again in the low to mid 80’s, however with that increase in humidity, a few storms did come in, especially in the higher elevations. We will see a repeat for tomorrow, however I think the thunderstorm activity will be a bit more widespread through the afternoon.
Overnight tonight moisture from the south will flow north, bringing showers and periods of light rain to much of the area overnight. There may be a rumble of thunder, but I don’t think it’s very widespread. Temperatures will remain on the mild side, mostly in the 60s and 60s with a hint of humidity through Sunday morning.
Leftover downpours to start on Sunday morning will give way to glimmers of sunshine. However, that sun will act as a trigger for flash showers and a few thunderstorms during the afternoon into early evening. It won’t be a washout, but if you have outdoor plans, you may want to have a place to go if one of those storms comes along.
Highs will be back in the upper 70s and low 80s through Sunday afternoon. Being firmly in the “warm sector”, ie south of the warm front and east of the cold front, we will see scattered thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
With the loss of heating for the day, I expect much of the activity to die down shortly after sunset. The cold front will be approaching on Monday this means our temperatures will be back in the 80’s to 80’s ahead of the front it’s also likely to feel more humid as dew point temperatures get closer to the 60’s and the 60s.
As the cold front approaches, storms will be more likely and numerous, there is a chance that some of them will become strong to severe and the main threats right now are damaging winds and large hail, however, at Looking at the current data we couldn’t rule out a brief isolated tornado, but be sure to check back throughout the rest of the weekend and early Monday as newer data comes in.
Cooler air, drier air moves into the middle of the week, temps Tuesday and Wednesday will likely be in the mid to over 60s with overnight lows in the low to mid 40s, will also get a bit windy . Then we start to heat up again thursday it will get almost normal warm up to the mid 70’s but expect to get closer to the 80’s again by the end of the week and next weekend when it could get very hot with highs in the mid to the top 80 possible on Saturday. Having a great night! -Steal
