2 men arrested on fentanyl drug charges in Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (NEWS10) – On Friday, the Saratoga Springs Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit launched an investigation into the sale and distribution of fentanyl in and around the city. Police said search warrants were executed around 1 p.m. at the Design Motel located at 3249 Route 9.

As a result of the investigation, Corey A. Saxton, 35, Greenwich, and Theodore O. Cooper, 49, Saratoga Springs, were arrested. According to the investigation, police seized drug packaging paraphernalia, several grams of crack cocaine and more than 13 grams of fentanyl.

Saxton was later charged with assaulting a uniformed officer related to the injuries he caused during the execution of the search warrant. Police said the officer was treated for minor injuries.

Saxton cashed:

  • Third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; Intent to sell (felony).
  • Fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (felony).
  • Assault in the second degree; Injuring a police officer (felony).
  • 7th Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor)

Cooper got paid:

  • First degree criminal nuisance (felony).
  • 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor).

Saxton was arranged and booked into the Saratoga County Jail without bond. Police said the crimes against Cooper were based on the fact that he rented the room where these activities took place. Cooper has been released on an appearance ticket.
